David Teniers II
David Teniers the Younger (Antwerp, Belgium, December 15, 1610 - Brussels, April 25, 1690) was a painter and engraver, son of painter David Teniers the Elder (or David Teniers I) and father of David Teniers III.

He was a flamenco artist of great fame among his contemporaries thanks to his scenes of villagers (peasants, farmers, smokers), which make it possible to compare him with Dutch masters such as Adriaen van Ostade, although he opts for a more refined costumbrismo. Another of his specialties was the monkeys painters, where he showed these animals performing human tasks, also known as "macacadas" "monerias" or in Europe called with the French term: singeries.

He was appointed curator of the Archduke Leopold William of Habsburg, governor of the Netherlands (1647). In this stage he painted several cabinet scenes, which showed the most outstanding paintings of the archduke along with characters who came to see them. One of the best versions of this theme (Museo del Prado) was sent by the archduke to Philip IV, probably to boast about his collection. Another painting of this type is located in the Lázaro Galdiano Museum in Madrid. Actually, Teniers did not show real rooms but fictitious ones: he accumulated in a single space many works of art existing in different halls or places.
